September 16, 2009:
A Contract was awarded to Hewcor International to provide R&D for GWPT’s proprietary Modulating Convection Reduction (MCR) components. Also known as the Natural State Reduction System, MCR automatically determines and provides zones within the reaction chamber to advantageously distribute recycled heat and oxygen to heterogeneous waste batches. Further R&D and component testing will continue to complete the required project by the fall of 2010 in concert with the custom gasification vessel.

July 31, 2009:
Hybrid Motion Control completed the R&D associated with early design, engineering and prototyping of hydraulic conveyance systems as they relate to the Modulating Convection Reduction (MCR) components.
June 15, 2009:
A submission by Steve Poulos and GWPT was made to the City of Toronto Urban Design Awards 2009 for a proposed Ontario Transportation and Energy Renaissance Expo at Ontario Place. The proposal named ‘Water West’ aims to bring together early concepts for a 200,000 m2 revitalization of the waterfront at 955 Lakeshore Blvd. West. Steven Poulos, GWPT’s president and CEO, completed a preliminary master plan for a Toronto urban waterfront redevelopment concept entitled The Ontario Transportation and Energy Renaissance Expo (OTERE) for the North side of Ontario Place and the South CNE lands.
The Concept was inspired by Universarium and the Ecologos Institute and envisions an advanced 5 Hectare environmental development acting as a new waterfront amenity to permanently connect the CNE to Ontario Place. OTERE also hopes to invigorate the City and Province to act together to find ways of demonstrating an eco-technological approach to energy, transportation, local markets and living solutions in the City. It will be presented to the Canadian Urban Institute in 2008 and further to the City of Toronto in 2009 where it hopes to gain interest and progress to further infrastructure planning initiatives that will lead to a national design competition for these lands. See the future site of OTERE at www.otere.net.
