Steven Poulos, GWPT’s president and CEO, completed a preliminary master plan for a Toronto urban waterfront redevelopment concept entitled The Ontario Transportation and Energy Renaissance Expo (OTERE) for the North side of Ontario Place and the South CNE lands.

The Concept was inspired by Universarium and the Ecologos Institute and envisions an advanced 5 Hectare environmental development acting as a new waterfront amenity to permanently connect the CNE to Ontario Place. OTERE also hopes to invigorate the City and Province to act together to find ways of demonstrating an eco-technological approach to energy, transportation, local markets and living solutions in the City. It will be presented to the Canadian Urban Institute in 2008 and further to the City of Toronto in 2009 where it hopes to gain interest and progress to further infrastructure planning initiatives that will lead to a national design competition for these lands. See the future site of OTERE at www.otere.net.

March 2006:

The Canadian Intellectual Property Office granted and issued the patent ‘Waste Gasification with Gas Conditioning’ to Steven D. Poulos and Ian Hood, the owners of the patent. The patent forms part of a licensing agreement with Global Warming Prevention Technologies Inc. The Process is also known as ‘Convection Reduction’ or the Natural State Reduction System. A pilot plant is planned to be completed in 2009 in association with the CETC at Natural Resources Canada that demonstrates the efficient material and energy recovery of any mixed waste batch at the 1 to 2 tonne per day scale.
